The Startup Summer program is an intensive, hands-on eight-week program that supports NFTE graduates who are seeking to launch a venture based on their NFTE business plan.
Teacher John Daly said the NFTE business plan competition is important as it, “allows students to be creative and to solve a problem while determining if it is financially viable.
In our world, we will need more and more entrepreneurs who are able to create new businesses.
After several rounds of in-class presentations, students voted on which teams would move forward to the final rounds of the competition.
It came down to just four business plans for Friday’s finalist round, where students stood up in front of their peers, as well as a panel of esteemed judges, and presented their unique ideas in the Dr.
Students created a business idea and then worked to complete a business plan, all the while activating their entrepreneurial mindset.
At the end of camp, young entrepreneurs presented their business plans to a panel of judges in a competition to win seed capital.
Biz Camp activities included the NFTE curriculum covering topics such as return on investment, supply and demand, opportunity recognition and marketing.
Guest speakers included business professionals who brought the outside world to the Biz Camp setting, and field trips included meetings with entrepreneurs at their workplace.
